A new publication – the UNICEF-WHO ‘State of the World’s Sanitation report’ – launching on World Toilet Day outlines the sanitation crisis, shares lessons and presents a vision of what is needed to deliver universal access to safe sanitation and in doing so combat a multitude of diseases and risks including COVID-19, cholera and antimicrobial resistance.
